How do I arrange for the pool session (for Open Water/Rescue Diver students only)?

As the pool session has to be completed 1-2 weeks prior to the Tioman trip, we will contact you via your mobile phone/email once the date of the Tioman trip has been fixed to arrange for the pool session. If you wish to arrange for an earlier session, please feel free to let us know.

How long in advance do I have to make the bookings?

It is recommended that you make your dive trip booking at least one month in advance. This is to ensure that there is enough time for you to complete your theory lessons and pool requirements for the dive course that you have signed up for.

What are the requirements to learn how to dive?

We highly recommend for you to be able to:

  • swim 200m or
  • swim 300m with mask / snorkel, and
  • thread water for 10 minutes.

What does the Open Diver Course package include?

The package includes everything from bus rides, ferry tickets, accommodation, equipment rental, course materials and course fees. However, the package excludes marine park fees (5RM) and personal expenditure (shopping, meals, etc).

How are theory sessions conducted?

We prefer to let our students learn at their own pace through e-learning while the exam itself is done in Tioman under the supervision of the instructor so that you may throw any questions at the instructor should you have any doubts/questions on certain topics.

What other diving destinations does The Dive Ship offer other than Tioman?

Our packages offer a variety of dive locations such as Tioman, Redang, Boracay, Malapascua, Bali, Phuket, etc. You name it, we have it!

What is the instructor to student ratio for dive courses?

Your safety is our utmost concern at The Dive Ship. This is why we keep the instructor to student ratio within the safe range of 1:4 to 1:6. Further, we have highly trained Divemasters to take good care of our students.

Why does The Dive Ship conduct most of their dive courses in Tioman?

Based on experience, we recommend for dive trips and courses to be done at Tioman island for its value. With a good level of visibility, our students will be able to enjoy the dives while honing their diving skills.

What is the cancellation policy like?

As we have to make bookings for the trips in Malaysia, we are unable to offer full refund for any courses booked. The cancellation fees are as follows:

  • 4 weeks in advance - 25% of course fees forfeited
  • 2 weeks in advance - 50% of course fees forfeited
  • 1 week in advance - 75% of course fees forfeited
  • Otherwise - 100% of course fees forfeited
